The managing director of Aleron Limited, Eng. Brendon Inniss, became chartered with the Institution of Civil Engineers in the UK on 10thDecember 2021. This was the end result of a long, gestating period of work dating as far back as 2012. Mr. Inniss started his own private practice in 2008 and it demanded the lion share of his time with marketing and other tasks deemed necessary to ensure his company’s survival. There were a few lengthy stoppages that occurred soon after every attempt was made to resume works on the ICE documents required for evaluation. It was only until 2020, when COVID-19 restrictions took effect and resulted in a nationwide shutdown of pretty much everything going on in Trinidad. Mr. Inniss seized the opportunity and used the downtime to finally get the documents together.
Opting to pursue the career appraisal path because of his years of experience, Mr. Inniss reached out to his mentors and sponsors and finally completed works on his; experience report, professional development record and attributes achievement form. The process was finally completed by the third quarter of 2021 followed by certification in December of that same year. By first quarter 2022, he was already mentoring a prospective ICE candidate seeking to become chartered. Mr. Inniss is encouraging his junior staff to start documenting their training annually on the professional development record in preparation for them becoming chartered in the years to come.
