On Monday August 07th, 2023, the Prime Minister Dr the Honourable Keith Rowley, officially opened the new state of the art Ministry of Health Administrative Building located at Jerningham Avenue and Queen’s Park Savannah East, Port of Spain.
Aleron Limited partnered with NH International Caribbean Limited to deliver this design-build project under via a Build-Own-Lease-Transfer (BOLT) contract between The Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago and Asclepius Holdings Limited (wholly owned subsidiary between Republic Bank and NH International Caribbean Limited).
The lease will run for 15 years at a cost to the government of TT$30M per annum – after which, ownership of the building will then be subsequently transferred to the Government. The project which was valued at TT$280M, was an initiative by the GORTT to house all MOH employees under one roof and save on the TT$0.8 to TT$1.05M in office building monthly rental costs.
The building, which was constructed from reinforced concrete using the FORSA aluminum formwork system, boasts 8-stories and a total square footage of 160,000 sq.ft. It has a standard grid of columns and beams with a centralized core of shear walls (linked with coupling beams) for stability.
